About Google Sitemap Protocol

The Google Sitemap Protocol allows you to inform search engines about URLs on your website that are available for crawling. A Sitemap is an XML file that lists the URLs for a site using the Google Sitemap Protocol. The protocol was written to be highly scalable so it can accommodate sites of any size. It also enables webmasters to include additional information about each URL. when it was last updated; how often it changes; how important it is in relation to other URLs in the site etc. so that search engines can crawl the site more intelligently. Sitemaps are particularly beneficial in situations when it is difficult for users to access all areas of a website through the browseable interface. By submitting a Sitemap (or Sitemaps) to a search engine, you are only helping that engine's crawlers to do a better job of crawling your site. Using this protocol does not guarantee that your webpages will be included in search indexes nor does it influence the way your pages are ranked by a search engine. ( From Wikipedia )

To run Sitemap Generator you will need:

Setup

To install the Sitemap Generator:
  1. Download the installation file from the website.
  2. Run the installation program. The Installation Wizard opens.
  3. Click Next and review the license agreement.
  4. Select I Agree.
  5. The Destination Directory screen is displayed.
  6. Either accept the default destination or enter the alternate destination.
  7. Wait while the application is installed. The Finish screen is displayed.
  8. Click Finish.
